Bien qu\u2019il ait des besoins importants, il peut exprimer pleinement son potentiel si seulement 75 % de ses besoins (soit un peu plus de 400 mm) sont couverts, contre 95 % pour le ma\u00efs et 90 % pour le sorgho. Le tournesol est ainsi naturellement arm\u00e9 en cas de conditions s\u00e8ches, mais peut cependant subir un stress hydrique \u00e0 certains stades de son cycle.<\/p>\n<h2>Vigilance requise \u00e0 la floraison<\/h2>\n<p>Pendant la phase v\u00e9g\u00e9tative du tournesol, entre les stades cotyl\u00e9dons et boutons, avant l\u2019apparition des fleurs ligul\u00e9es, 160 mm d\u2019eau sont requis. Ils sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement apport\u00e9s par la r\u00e9serve utile et les pluies. La p\u00e9riode critique en cas de manque d\u2019eau se situe \u00e0 partir de la floraison. Dans ce cas, les pertes de rendement peuvent atteindre 30 %.
