Comme l\u2019affirmaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 en 2017 des chercheurs<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Sans engrais et sans am\u00e9lioration g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, chaque degr\u00e9 Celsius suppl\u00e9mentaire de la temp\u00e9rature mondiale entra\u00eenerait une baisse globale des rendements de 6 % en c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, de 3,2 % en riz, 7,4 % en ma\u00efs et de 3,1 % en soja. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pour le ma\u00efs, le constat va m\u00eame plus loin. Selon une autre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-018-06525-2\">\u00e9tude<\/a> publi\u00e9e en 2018 :<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>En Europe, en cas de maintien des g\u00e9notypes actuels, des dates de semis et de l\u2019utilisation des terres, avec et sans irrigation, le changement climatique entra\u00eenerait une baisse de 20 % des rendements de ma\u00efs d\u2019ici 2050, ind\u00e9pendamment de la fertilisation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>De son c\u00f4t\u00e9 Sophie Gendre, ing\u00e9nieur R&amp;D gestion de l\u2019eau chez Arvalis, pr\u00e9vient sans d\u00e9tour que, pour le ma\u00efs, <em>\u00ab tout stress hydrique entra\u00eene une perte de rendement \u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>D\u00e9velopper la s\u00e9lection en ma\u00efs et soja<\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019am\u00e9lioration g\u00e9n\u00e9tique des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s est donc une des clefs pour conserver un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elicit-plant.com\/fr\/notre-societe\/\">rendement int\u00e9ressant<\/a> dans des conditions plus s\u00e8ches. Si en ma\u00efs la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 beaucoup travaill\u00e9e, en soja la situation est diff\u00e9rente comme le rappelait une publication issue d\u2019un projet Casdar Secalibio :<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>L\u2019un des leviers pour optimiser les performances du soja conduit en sec est le choix vari\u00e9tal. En effet, il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en \u00e9vidence dans des travaux de recherche qu\u2019il existait des diff\u00e9rences de r\u00e9ponse au stress hydrique du soja. N\u00e9anmoins, les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences existantes sur la tol\u00e9rance au stress hydrique des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s de soja actuellement commercialis\u00e9es sont tr\u00e8s restreintes et ne nous permettent pas d\u2019identifier des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s qui seraient \u00ab plus robustes \u00bb que d\u2019autres.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>L\u2019irrigation sous contrainte<\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019irrigation est un autre levier de gestion du stress hydrique des plantes. Mais le co\u00fbt est \u00e9lev\u00e9 et l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019eau en saison s\u00e8che n\u2019est pas garanti \u00e0 100 % du fait des \u00ab Arr\u00eat\u00e9s s\u00e9cheresse \u00bb. La technique du goutte-\u00e0-goutte, tr\u00e8s employ\u00e9e en Isra\u00ebl, par exemple, tout comme la r\u00e9utilisation des eaux us\u00e9es sont des solutions \u00e0 envisager, encore peu d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es en France. Sophie Gendre \u00e9voque aussi l\u2019Espagne, o\u00f9 \u00ab l\u2019approche est collective. Certains agriculteurs ont de l\u2019eau mais uniquement un jour par semaine. Le pilotage ne se fait pas \u00e0 la parcelle comme chez nous mais \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle du r\u00e9seau. \u00bb<\/p>\n<h2>Des assolements simplifi\u00e9s au d\u00e9triment des l\u00e9gumineuses<\/h2>\n<p>Face \u00e0 cette question de la disponibilit\u00e9 en eau, un \u00e9cueil plus souvent rattach\u00e9 \u00e0 la conduite des cultures de printemps, les assolements ont \u00e9t\u00e9 simplifi\u00e9s, au profit des cultures d\u2019hiver. Ce qui n\u2019est pas sans cons\u00e9quence : manque de diversit\u00e9 et d\u2019alternance des solutions de protection des cultures, d\u2019o\u00f9 une augmentation des r\u00e9sistances des adventices et des ravageurs, un risque de pollution des eaux du fait d\u2019interventions aux m\u00eames p\u00e9riodes de l\u2019ann\u00e9e et une pr\u00e9pond\u00e9rance des surfaces de c\u00e9r\u00e9ales \u00e0 paille. L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat des cultures de printemps et des l\u00e9gumineuses dans l\u2019\u00e9quilibre des syst\u00e8mes n\u2019est aujourd\u2019hui plus \u00e0 d\u00e9montrer, comme le rappelait Aur\u00e9lie Garcia-Velasco, charg\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9tude environnement et machinisme \u00e0 la FRCuma Ouest, le 27 janvier, lors de la journ\u00e9e intitul\u00e9e \u00ab Contribution de l\u2019agriculture \u00e0 l\u2019att\u00e9nuation du <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elicit-plant.com\/fr\/notre-societe\/\">changement climatique<\/a> \u00bb, organis\u00e9e par le GIS Relance agronomique. Mais leur r\u00e9introduction dans les assolements ne se fait pas toujours sans difficult\u00e9,<\/p>\n<h2>Am\u00e9liorer la capacit\u00e9 de r\u00e9tention en eau des sols<\/h2>\n<p>Pour finir, Sophie Gendre souligne l\u2019importance des sols s\u2019agissant de la disponibilit\u00e9 en eau. Une bonne base de d\u00e9part pour mettre toutes les chances du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la culture : am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9serve utile en \u00e9vitant le tassement, en utilisant des couverts v\u00e9g\u00e9taux, en couvrant le sol (mulching ou paillage), en augmentant la teneur en mati\u00e8re organique.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019un point de vue plus prospectif, les hydro-r\u00e9tenteurs, en poudre, cristaux ou gel, sont des substrats qui captent et conservent l\u2019eau pour la restituer peu \u00e0 peu au sol. Ils sont tr\u00e8s utilis\u00e9s dans certains pays, mais la France n\u2019autorise pas leur emploi sur toutes les cultures. Sophie Gendre aborde aussi d\u2019autres pistes telles que la question du traitement \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tique de l\u2019eau, au travers du projet <a href=\"https:\/\/aqua4d-irrigation.com\/fr\/\">Aqua4D<\/a>, financ\u00e9 par l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne. \u00ab Le principe [\u2026] consiste \u00e0 changer la structure de l\u2019eau gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019introduction subtile de signaux \u00e0 basse fr\u00e9quence \u00bb, \u00e9crit l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne. Une \u00e9tude de 2020 montre que le traitement \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tique de l\u2019eau d\u2019irrigation \u00ab a eu un fort effet sur la porosit\u00e9 \u00bb du sol.<\/p>\n<p>Autant de pistes qui mettent en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de la recherche et du d\u00e9veloppement, aussi pour les questions agricoles.
