To evaluate EliSun-a under real farming conditions, one of Elicit Plant’s Ukrainian partners compared treated and untreated sunflower plots grown under a strip-till production system. The product was applied between the 6- and 7-leaf stage, before the crop reached approximately twelve leaves.
Only a few weeks after application, the first differences became clearly visible. While the aerial parts of the plants appeared relatively similar, a closer look at the root systems revealed a marked contrast between the treated and untreated plots.
According to the observations made in the field, the sunflower treated with EliSun-a developed a more extensive secondary root system, accompanied by greater overall plant vigor. These differences suggest an improved capacity for water uptake and support the preventive mode of action of EliSun-a.
For this Ukrainian partner, the trial clearly illustrates the importance of preparing crops before water stress occurs. Stronger root development early in the season can help sunflower better manage future periods of water limitation and preserve crop performance throughout the growing cycle.
