On September 11, 2024, Elicit Plant, a pioneer in agri-biotech, was honored at the 7th edition of the Future Unicorns Awards (Trophées des Futures Licornes), winning the award in the Green Tech and Mobilities category. This award, which highlights the most promising French tech companies, acknowledges Elicit Plant’s innovation and impact in the agricultural sector and its contribution to the global ecological transition.

For the past seven years, the Future Unicorns Awards has been identifying high-growth potential companies that meet strict criteria: headquartered in France, less than 15 years old, having raised at least 5 million euros, independent, unlisted, and valued at under one billion euros. Elicit Plant stood out due to its innovative and sustainable approach to agriculture.

Founded in 2017, Elicit Plant has developed a unique solution for sustainable agriculture: the patented EliTerra® technology, which uses phytosterols to enhance plants’ natural defenses against drought stress. With this innovation, major crops such as maize, sunflower, and cereals can withstand drought periods and improve yields, while reducing water consumption by nearly 20%.

The quick adoption of these solutions, especially in Europe, Brazil, and Ukraine, demonstrates their effectiveness. Since the launch of its first product, Best-a, in 2022, Elicit Plant has experienced exponential growth, expanding into ten countries and achieving a 150% annual growth rate.

Jean-François Déchant, CEO of Elicit Plant, said:

Jean-François Déchant, CEO of Elicit Plant
“We are truly honored to receive this award, which underscores our commitment to a more resilient agricultural future. Our ambition is to continue driving the ecological transition while ensuring economic performance for farmers. Following our success in Europe and Brazil, we plan to enter the U.S. market by 2025.”

Thanks to its commitment to social responsibility, Elicit Plant has also been awarded the LUCIE 26000 certification, further solidifying its status as a leader in sustainable innovation in agriculture.
